This simple volumetric building architectural design gesture mediates among the opposite Hallenstadion and the adjoining small-scale house residential homes at Birnbaumstrasse. Former industrial halls frequently provide the musicals a special feeling. Both the rich industrial history of the location Oerlikon and the prominent neighborhood to the Hallenstadion and Messe Zurich (trade fair) present in this respect superlative conditions for a musical theatre.

Demolishing the innovative Stadthof presented the possibility of realizing a customized building. A skin of perforated steel and aluminum material sheeting covers the building “all over”, thus underlining the equality of roof and unique wall decors. With the exception of the few precisely composed “eye windows” and the glazed entrance space, the aluminum sheeting covers dozens of small windows. The inner organization reacts to the new urban gesture. Painted concrete and the accentuated lighting create a vibrant feeling. Red seats on a red carpet were the simply design elements.
