The big architecture project of Light House located in Belfort, France is designed by archi5 + Borja Huidobro. The kind of modern sports and events arena architecture building design has 1500 to 2800 seats principal hall, secondary sports hall, administrative area and also associative spaces. The Fort Hatry wherever the sports and events arena of Belfort is positioned was one of the ultra modern exterior bastions of this defense device. The fortifications have an innovative geometry design structure not derived from the urban orthogonal grid but through multiple directions designed to control movement, conceived to obtain clear sight lines, designed for the art of war, by an aesthetic of edges design and folded glass walls. Because it’s removal from office as a defense device the Fort Hatry has turn into an informal park used for open air activities, leisure and events, giving place for ephemeral structures like as luna park’s and circuses. Conceived as an influential landmark, the original construction establishes a strong relationship through the majestic skyline of the nearby Vosges Mountains and the Belfort Castel.
The Light House design facility assumes its role as a community building and modern urban catalyst, a place of centrality, gatherings, meetings, sport and cultural events. The unique but amazing design of the new building makes a strong contrast to the existing stone walls. Recalling the fluidity and the dynamic of sports activities, the facade of the sports arena creates a flexible and generous movement during the architecture design landscape. Convex and concave folds react to the offered straight lines. At night the building is transformed into a beautiful bright lighthouse, completely expressing the events taking place inside. The glass ribbon enlaces the programmatic activities, making compressions and expansions connecting the halls and the skin. The main sport hall interior design is the heart of the complex; it is served with a public circulation directly open towards the playing field. Through positioning this space around the hall, it forms an open liaison; an intermediary layer among the hall and the city.
